For young sailors, a holiday on a sailing yacht is usually a great adventure. Feeling like a proud pirate on their own ship or exploring lonely islands and enchanted calas and caves makes the trip an unforgettable experience. If the skipper keeps the interests of the little crew members in mind when planning, the whole crew gets their money's worth. From our own sailing experiences with children we have summarised the best tips for your family.
A child-friendly home port
Nothing is worse for children than waiting for hours in the summer heat for check-in. So when booking, choose not only the right boat but also a family-friendly charter base. Our base at Club Nàutic Arenal is the perfect marina for families. The time before check-in can be spent at the club pool or the beach, provisions are delivered straight to the boat, and the club restaurant serves something for hungry tummies. Nearby you also find windsurfing, a large water park and the Sea Life Center.
The castle ruins of Cabrera
An absolute highlight for little pirates is a trip to the Cabrera National Park. The island's eventful history sparks the imagination, and the view from the castle ruins down to your own yacht brings pirate stories to life. The quiet nights at anchor are a special experience too.
Swimming in Mallorca's calas
With children it has proven best to plan shorter daily legs and leave plenty of time for swimming, snorkelling and stand-up paddling. An evening barbecue on deck is also popular. We are happy to equip you with everything you need, from SUPs to snorkelling gear and a grill. Just tell us what you need and it will be on board at check-in.
Little cave explorers
Mallorca's east coast has several exciting caves: Coves d'Artà, Cova des Moro, Cova des Pirata, Coves dels Hams and Coves del Drac. The latter can even be reached on foot from Porto Cristo harbour and features the largest underground lake in Europe, with a short concert to round off the tour. A real family highlight.
Flotilla sailing with other families
From a child's point of view the nicest trips are those where other children sail along, whether on your own yacht or on neighbouring boats. Flotilla sailing is therefore especially popular with families. Ahoy, we look forward to your young skippers!
